Esther Leander – providing Pardia support for foreigners
Pardia has conducted a study on the needs and expectations of those with immigrant backgrounds, i.e. non-native Finns, towards trade unions and consequently in co-operation with The Educational Federation for Unions for Professional Employees in Finland (TJS) and trained a support person to provide information and guidance for non-native Finns. Esther is volunteering in this work in addition to her regular job, yet separately to it.
The role and job of the support person is
- to help an immigrant working in Finland to adapt to the Finnish working life and
- to be willing to listen, to discuss, to share knowledge and experiences and to help people to find out information about different matters
Rules for Pardia support
- the Pardia support person for foreigners provides information on questions relating to safeguarding of interests and working life to Pardia’s members and potential members who work at jobs represented by Pardia
- The nature of information provided is primarily ”first aid”. This means that the support person guides the person requiring help either to a Pardia expert or, when appropriate, to the authorities or another organisation providing support.
You may contact Esther on:
- from Monday to Friday between 4 pm and 7 pm by telephone on 045 77310721
- at weekends by e-mail on esther.leander(at)pardia.fi, or on facebook
Esther speaks Finnish, English and Greek and naturally her native Kiswahili and Kikamba fluently.
